Below the Bridge
2025
Oil pastel on paper
12 x 10 inches
One weekend I found myself walking through a forest filled with massive trees, and looking up I saw the curve of a towering bridge above me. Walking under it made me face my smallness in such a big world: I felt like a miniature fairy in a giant’s environment. It was a good metaphor for taking on a new space (college).
In this drawing, I focused on bringing out the different hues before me: vibrant green foliage, glowing yellow moss in the sun, dark browns in shadows and the turquoise of the bridge.
